My first experience in the world of parking occurred during my Junior and Senior years of High School, when I served on the school’s first parking lot committee. I returned to the industry of
parking in 1982 with the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport.
I received my BA from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in Urban Geography and History in 1978. I had brief stints with First Union National Bank in their Market Research Department and with
Western Waterproofing Co., Inc. as a Project Manager. I began my second career in parking at C/DIA as a cashier, soon working up to Supervisor and eventually Manager. During that time,
I have been responsible for the development of virtually all departmental policies as well as rules and regulations. In the beginning, I was responsible for just the parking operation. Since that time
my duties have been expanded to include the public shuttles, Taxis, Ground Transportation providers and Employee shuttles. My staff has grown from four people to thirteen and positions for support
have increased from approximately sixty to almost three hundred people. My lots have increase from 3,300 spaces to over 12,000, generating approximately $18,000,000.00 annually.
I have been active with the IPI since joining in 1984. I have made several presentations at the annual trade shows, as well as, some of the smaller seminars. I was the founding President of the Carolinas
Parking Association in 1987 and have been an active board member throughout its existence. I have previously spent three years on the Board of Directors and several years on the Board of Advisors.
I have been on the Board of Directors for the past four years. I was a member of the initial graduating CAPP class in 1984. This year I have been asked to serve on the committees to review presentations
for the IPI Award of Excellence.

I’ve been the Parking Manager for the City of Greensboro for ten years. Our operations include parking decks, surface lots, and on-street parking meters, which cover 4300+ spaces.
I received a BA in Communications from UNC-Greensboro in 1985. I’ve served as a customer service representative and loan processor for CCB. My career with the City of Greensboro
began as a 911 dispatcher for the Police/Fire Department. I began in 1995 with the Transportation Department as a benefits coordinator and then budget analyst. I’ve been the Parking
Manager since 1997 and supervise 13 staff.
I’ve been a member of IPI and CPA since 1997. I’d like to get more involved with serving on the CPA board. I believe the more you’re involved, the more you get to know
other people, you connect with networking in the parking industry, and you help make a difference in the organization’s growth for the future.
