Support Our Colleague
Mandy Hawkins (Taylor) is the Parking Operations Supervisor for the City of Greenville, SC Parking Services. She leads the parking operations center which oversee all parking entry/exit activities in all parking facilities and manages the event parking operations for the City to include all major events in downtown Greenville and the Bon Secours Wellness Arena which hosts a wide range of events from Kenny Chesney, SEC Women’s Basketball Championship, and Men’s NCAA tournaments. On May 23, 2024, Mandy was working as the event parking lead for Greenville County’s High School Graduations working 13 graduations in 4 days with over 70,000 attendees. At the end of the final graduation, an individual who was unhappy about having to pay for parking proceeded to hit Mandy with their vehicle, then run over her after she was down. Mandy was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. She had an extended stay in Trauma ICU where she underwent multiple surgeries. Mandy spent 10 weeks in the hospital and is currently at home with skilled nursing care and rehabilitation each day, as she has little to no use of the right side of her body. She is still unable to walk or do anything independently. Mandy continues to demonstrate incredible strength and grace as she faces a long road to recovery. As she navigates these challenges, please keep her husband, children, parents, brother, in-laws, medical team, and caregivers in your thoughts and prayers. With school back in session, managing daily life has become increasingly challenging, especially since Mandy was deeply involved in coordinating her sons' school and sports activities. This incident has caused a tremendous amount of stress and financial impact on the family, and it continues to do-so as Mandy learns to live again. Her husband, Tommy, has taken off over 400 hours of work during this challenging time. Any donations to support the challenges faced by the family are greatly appreciated.
