Development of EV Charging Projects - The NC State University Case Study

The goal of this presentation is to provide the audience with the tools needed to establish or develop a successful EV charging program in a campus environment. By navigating real-world planning and implementation challenges and funding constraints, NC State has managed to grow its program into a reliable, efficient and financially sustainable. This presentation will cover lessons learned about data analysis, fare structure, accessibility, funding opportunities, siting, project design and implementation and reporting.   

This session offers 1 certification point for the PTMP Application and Recertification.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will learn how to plan and implement an EV charging program in a campus environment by applying lessons from real-world challenges related to data analysis, fare structures, accessibility, siting, and project design.

  • Participants will understand strategies for securing funding, building a financially sustainable program, and effectively reporting on EV charging program performance.

Andrea Neri (NC State University)

Andrea Neri is the Transportation Planning Manager at NC State University. In this position, he has managed the University's EV charging program for over three years. Through the implementation of strategic policy changes and the effective deployment of grant funding, he has led a transformational effort that allowed the supply to meet the growing demand while remaining financially sustainable.
