A Decade of Parking Technology: Predictions, Progress, and Future Needs

Thursday, September 25, 10:45 AM, Room: Mt. Pisgah

Join the IPMI Technology Committee as we examine the evolution of parking technology over the past decade. From big data to parking access and revenue control systems to on-street management and enforcement, explore how various parking technologies have developed—identifying the catalysts that facilitated their adoption and the barriers that hindered others. Using these examples and others, we will discuss how these technologies impacted our industry, creating new opportunities for parking, transportation, and mobility operations. Drawing on these trends, we will take a progressive approach to see what’s coming next and help you evaluate how and when to deploy new and emerging technology and solutions. Come with your toughest questions and leave with a comprehensive understanding of the trends, successes, and challenges we have faced as an industry, as well as insights into our industry’s future.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the Evolution of Parking Technologies: Participants will gain an understanding of how parking technologies have evolved over the past decade, including key milestones and turning points.

  • Identify Catalysts and Barriers: Participants will learn about the factors that have influenced the adoption of certain parking technologies while others have struggled to gain traction.

  • Evaluate Current and Future Needs: Participants will assess the current state of parking technologies and identify what is needed for these technologies to achieve broader adoption and success in the future.
